The Mulleavy sisters won the coveted CFDA Designer of the Year award for their highly lauded brand Rodarte (and just a year after they won for best Emerging Womenswear designers) in 2009. Naturally, the fashion world awaited with high anticipation for their collection following their big wins. For Fall 2010, it seems as though Rodarte is pushing itself in a new direction, while still maintaining the “Rodarte” aesthetic which made it such a popular and acclaimed brand in the first place. One of the reasons that I love fashion so much is its ability to create an art medium which truly is reflective of a time period. Christopher Bailey has done a beautiful job in his Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection for Burberry Prorsum. The fluid collection is incredibly evocative of the mood of the current economic, political, and cultural climate.  Each piece reflects a hardness, which I think everyone in the world is feeling in our modern times. The Chanel Spring Ready-to-Wear immediately set the tone of the collection by setting the fashion show in a barn full of hay, rather than the cliché tented runway (thank you Karl Lagerfeld!) It’s certainly no secret that super-high heel shoes have dominated the fashion scene in the past couple of years. Everyone loves to be able to add 3, 4, or even 5 inches to their frame.
