As graceful and classic as their ballet derived name but as modern and stylish as anything else we see today, these shoes look straight from the art deco movement. The front platform gives a little extra height and also make these a little edgier than the normal strappy sandal. They are neutrals ladies, so you can pair them with any color, but because they are very much evening shoes (in my humble opinion) I would do them with an emerald color dress (if you can pull off, which I can and I do HA!) or even a burnt orange. And of course there's always black. (ok... i have to admit, the only downfall to this shoe is the "D" hanging right smack in the middle. tacky and tasteless. Dior is so guilty of this...) I am always fascinated by anything inspired by other cultures, but why are these "ethnic" exactly? I dig them, don't get me wrong, but I'm still trying to figure out what "ethnicity" they are drawing from (maybe hindu culture?) I can't believe my eyes, these shoes are absolutely magnificent!!! They will make a statement on their own. I love the mix of canvas with the embroideries and the tangling charm, so chic and so Dior. TheShoeGoddess is turning a year old this month! I never imagined what a fantastic journey I was about to embark on when I first started selling my shoes on E-bay to raise money to support APCH, my favorite charity. After receiving a lot of e-mails from e-buyers, asking for shoe advice, I decided to create TheShoeGoddess, a small blog for shoe lovers. What started as a fun little shoe lover site has grown beyond my expectations. Christian Dior was an elegant and classic "maison de couture" with very beautiful and top-notch, quality shoes. (When John Galliano joined the brand he really rocked the house!) Anyway, these shoes are a reminder of these times; they are timeless chic yet sexy. I love the platform and the elegant jewel detail. These shoes will look beautiful with suits. Oh la la! Here comes another magnificent collection by the biggest fashion genius of all time. I am of course talking about John Galliano. The Dior spring prêt-a-porter collection was already magnificent, but to see the haute couture show made my day. I have no words to express how magic this collection is. The fabrics, the drapes, the beading, the colors... I mean I get emotional. I graduated from the École du Louvre with a PHD in fine art and seriously, no one but John Galliano has reached the level of perfection I have seen in the painting masterpieces that I have come to study. We had so much fun with the Best Pick of the Week but it wasn't an easy task. Because all of the shoes we featured all year round are all fabulous! Being a 'Pick of the week' in itself is quite the recognition and distinction already. But to be the 'creme de la creme'? Divinity! This design power house has been crating fabulous threads and shoes to die for. It also commissioned the top designers of all time. And we are talking about the fabulous Dior. Dior by John Galliano - Fantastic Pump During my conversation with Florence (TheShoeGoddess), we both agreed the that shoes in 2007 didn't step up to the plate. In fact, there were more-not-so-pretty shoes this year. Even designers whom we expected to deliver high caliber footwear fashion were not at the top of their game. So, 2008 should be interesting to see what these creative designers and grand fashion houses have in store for us. We chose the best shoe trends in '07 based on style, popularity amongst women and, of course, chicness! So, here are the top 3: Ballet FlatsSimple, versatile and stylishly fashionable. Metallic Colors
Metallics are staple colors in every season, year and collection. Usually, metallic shoes that fill up shoe racks in every department store has always been tacky, matronly and shoes that you can only wear for weddings or prom. This year was an exception. All the metallic shoes that we posted here were not only adored by us but also our readers. I believe this is a response from designers actually taking the time to see what styles work best with which metallic finish. Definitely this trend will carry over next year. And with that, metallics deserve to be one of our best shoe trends in '07. The Modified Heel I did some research on our last of the best shoe trends in '07 and discovered there's not an official term to describe it; so I came up with 'modified heels,' which encompasses heel ornamentation (studs, jewels, etc.) as well as heel reconstruction. These shoes are wearable art.
There are not enough words to praise John Galliano's talent, we adore him!!! Galliano is recognized as the most talented and creative designer of all time, but in private he is a very shy person who loves being home and tries to stay out of the public eye as much as possible. He has mastered the art of perfection and his collections are just as magnificent as they are extraordinary. Every season we expect beautiful and he delivers fabulous. I know!!! These shoes are an absolute challenge to our principles when it comes to protecting endangered animals. But guess what? They are not real croc, they are croc embossed leather!!! Though they are very enticing, their price tag (like a crocodile) is killer. However, these shoes are magnificent and I would never deter any of you from getting them. Do you remember how spectacular they looked on the runway? I just love them; the jewel detail adds a very refined touch to this out of this world pair of shoes. I was talking to my mom on the phone (she lives in Paris) and she was telling me that her and her boyfriend went to the Christian Dior store on avenue Montaigne and that it was magical. Everything was just magnificent and she was amazed not only by the beauty of the goods but also by the refinement of each and every detail on the clothing, the shoes and the accessories. And I couldn't agree more with my mom: since John Galliano has taken over, he has restored the prestige and the creativity of the brand. Since I have seen these shoes I have been obsessed with them, but unfortunately so far they are nowhere to be found!!! They were available for pre- order for a split second on the Saks web-site and they disappeared. But finally today I've found them . I know these sandals are probably not the best purchase when it comes to practicality, but they are just amazingly beautiful, original and so sexy...... I have mixed feelings about these shoes. I like them but at the same time I like the plain, plain version better. I think the heel is not high enough for such a busy shoe. Their runway counterpart looked more elegant. I don't really like the python detail, however these shoes are almost collectibles and they went down from $1,390.00 to $972.00 but they are not shoes thats are easy to wear, so I will pass. OMG! These shoes are magnificent !!! I love the feathers and the delicate rhinestone detail on the heel. They are an absolute masterpiece the kind you keep in a showcase. Wedges are going to be very strong this spring. I love these Dior sandals, unlike a lot of wedges that look heavy, these sandals have the perfect balance between platform and wedge so they will elongate the leg. These shoes have a very ethnic look to them. The tortoise shell detail, strappy top and the mix of neutral leather and wood make these shoes easy to pair with any outfit. Croc is in, but nowadays designers are using croc stamped leather as opposed to actual croc. I can't tell the difference can you? These are chic and stylish and the leather is actually more consumer friendly than the pricier croc. Love them in brown. I'd wear them with a dark denim skinny jean. I love that they're pink, (obviously) and the jewel at the toe adds the perfect hint of glamour. A must for the holiday season. Dior Buckle pump $870.00  I should have posted these shoes as my Pick of the week along the Louboutin pumps,I just got them, they are just insanely fabulously hot!!!!! They are the runaway simplified version and unless their couture counterparts the plain leather heel is low and straight (the runaway ones had a snake skin banana heel). I love the intricate leather upper bands it adds a very couture look to these shoes. I love the hot pink color it's just so chic. I wore them with jeans and a simple grey T-shirt and it looked beautiful. They will look amazing with dresses and pencil skirts. As always John Galliano finds a way to surprise us with these very eccentric pumps. They are called "Odyssey" I wonder if it's a tribute to the greek poet Homer and his tale of Ulysses. At first I wondered if these shoes were made out of exotic fish scales? I pictured John Galliano in his pirate outfit wandering the deep sea in search of the fish that would have these scales.... These pair of Dior crisscross shoes are as beautiful as they are intriguing, I think it has to do with the shape of the heel? These shoes can easily cross the line between being fabulous or turning any legs into bugs feet!!!! So when I heard that the company was coming up with one style, I had to find out more about it!!! The style is called the python anniversary pump or LMP 73232. It's a leather and python pump with an ankle strap and cute leather bows on the side. So far these shoes are for sale at the Las Vegas Christian Dior boutique (forum shop at Caesar's), I was in Vegas Monday and Tuesday for the fabulous WSA shoe show. Unfortunately for now they only come in green, and the price over a $1000.00 which is kind of high for a such volatile pair of pumps. However the store should be getting them in gray and hot pink..
In addition to the Python anniversary pumps, the Christian Dior boutique at the Wynn hotel should be getting these booties in the pink color. Of course when I asked more infos the sale person gave me an attitude like I was pulling teeth !!!! (we will have them but when ???? and how much I don't know? I hate when sales person are so f... unhelpful and look down at customers. They make us feel like we are worth nothing.
As I am reviewing the Paris "haute couture show," I can't pass on the always magnificent Christian Dior by John Galliano. On July 3rd, John Galliano took the "chateau de Versailles" by storm to mark Christian Dior 60th anniversary and what a fabulous party it was! So far John Galliano has been one of the most creative and talented designers of the last decade. The Christian Dior's haute couture fall collection is no expection. For his show, John Galliano made sure to bring in some of the world’s best supermodels. Everyone from Linda, Naomi, Amber, and Shalom to Gisele were there. Actually, a very well informed friend of mine and fashion goddess who was at the Dior show, told me that the models on the runway could barely walk in these shoes. We can understand why!!!!

These blue sandals are just the cutest ever. They are absolutely out of this world.
For months I have been contemplating one of the most beautiful shoe collections ever made, the Christian Dior ready to wear fall 2007 collection. Although I doubt these shoes will ever make it to the stores, I still love them and I think they should be looked at as piece of art. Thanks to my friend the famous Carine Roitfeld style.com (fashion editor of the French Vogue), I was able to get my hand on a pair of these dream shoes, of course they are not my size, since they are a prototype, and unfortunately I will never be able to wear them, I still wanted to share with you their beauty. What a craft to make each individual strand into this woven masterpiece.
Look at the banana heel and how the two different textures come together to perfection. This is just amazing .
The snakeskin is abolutely perfect. And what about the hidden platform? I have to congratulate the designer and the hard working team behind these shoes, their work is fantastic and so precise.
