Nicholas Kirkwood Suede and Lizard Cross Front Sandals

By TheShoeGoddess on 02/21/08 7:00 AM | In Coup de Coeur • Nicholas Kirkwood • Sandals | Comments (0)

Since I have seen these shoes on the Browns  web-site, I have become obsessed. I love them, their vibrant color their architectural shape, the platform, I mean everything.  I am going to investigate presto   on where to find these shoes within the USA. We don't want to pay the high cost of international shipping,to have these shoes shipped from London, but we have to have them, they are too fabulous........ So far I haven't find these shoes yet, but I am still holding hope that I might find  them in Vegas..

Jerome C. Rousseau: A Rising Star

By TheShoeGoddess on 02/13/08 7:00 AM | In Boots • Coup de Coeur • Jerome C. Rousseau • Pumps | Comments (6)

Monday is our regular meeting day here at the shoegoddess. But this week, our Monday was anything but regular. I am proud to say we are among the elite few that have had the privilege to take a glimpse at new designer Jerome Rousseau's fall shoe collection. His designs are so inspired and the craftsmanship so expert, we couldn't wait to introduce his magnificent line to you, our readers.

Florence The Shoe Goddess and Jerome Rousseau

DSC00017-4.jpg

In recent years, Jerome acted as footwear Design Director at Isabella Fiore, where he was instrumental in creating the vision of the brand.

His tenure has gathered important consideration, including a profile in industry-leading publication Footwear News, as well as various national and international press hits. Jerome finessed his design skills for ten years in London, where he worked alongside Matthew Williamson, Jasper Conran, John Richmond and John Rocha, as well as Paris based forecasting house Promostyl.

He had previously built a strong technical knowledge in footwear design at London Cordwainers College, famous for its many reputed alumni including Jimmy Choo, Patrick Cox and Emma Hope among others.

jerome_c_rousseau_smaller.gif

Though he is soft spoken with a slight British accent, Jerome's passion for design voices quite clearly through his incredible collection of shoes; it is chic and elegant with an edge that is oh-so-British. The designs reach women of all ages,  are so versatile that they can easily go from day to night without a hitch and they are, honestly, some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever encountered. They are light as air and the sole is so sturdy that the shoes literally hug the foot.

Just like many great designers before him, Jerome's shoes have a unique personality, a look that will undoubtedly be recognized by the fashion world as "Rousseau."  I believe Jerome will be the talk of the town in no time.  Not only is he an extremely promising designer, he's also a beautiful human being.  We look forward to seeing more of him at the WSA show in Vegas next week.

Take a look at this stunning "Etoile Peacock Pump."  I love the subtle silver piping that  lines the satin criss cross. So chic.

This "Dragon Multiside Pump" is Jerome's favorite. I love the classic yet edgy look.  The colors work harmoniously without being too busy; they have a very couture feel to them.

As it becomes closer to the official launch of his line (right now there are only one pair of each of his shoes!) we will be showing you more of his collection -- as well as a video podcast featuring Jerome  -- in which you can see his passion and explore his inspirations for yourself.

It is always such an honor and pleasure to meet emerging talents like Jerome and introduce him to  shoe lovers like yourself. Our special thanks to Jerome for taking the time out of his busy pre-WSA schedule to spend the day with us here at TheShoeGoddess. Interested buyers can make contact here.

John Galliano for Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2008

By TheShoeGoddess on 01/23/08 7:00 AM | In Christian Dior • Coup de Coeur • From the Runway • John Galliano • Spring 2008 Collections | Comments (2)

Oh la la! Here comes another magnificent collection by the biggest fashion genius of all time. I am of course talking about John Galliano.

The Dior spring prêt-a-porter collection was already magnificent, but to see the haute couture show made my day.  I have no words to express how magic this collection is. The fabrics, the drapes, the beading, the colors... I mean I get emotional.

I graduated from the École du Louvre with a PHD in fine art and seriously, no one but John Galliano has reached  the level of perfection I have seen in the painting masterpieces that I have come to study.

I love these pink shoes.

Bottega Veneta 'Braided Satin' Platform Sandals

By TheShoeGoddess on 01/15/08 11:00 AM | In Bottega Veneta • Coup de Coeur • Platforms • Sandals | Comments (4)

We were exchanging emails with our dear friend Tina (Bagsnob) about Bottega Veneta and how much we liked their shoes and their bags. The company has been around for a long time, but lately they seem to be mounting a huge come back.

We love the braided, supple leather that has been a Bottega Veneta trademark forever.

Their shoes are just magnificent. Take these braided satin platform sandals in a soft blue color; aren't they beautiful? So romantic, yet elegant and sexy... very "ingenue."

I love the softness of the satin mixed with the braided platform.  And the delicate blue color adds a lot of refinement to these already fabulous shoes.

Giuseppe Zanotti Satin Rose Sandals

By TheShoeGoddess on 01/08/08 4:55 PM | In Coup de Coeur • Giuseppe Zanotti • Sandals | Comments (1)

As we noted in our year-end retrospective, I have been impressed with Giuseppe Zanotti's sandals. They are just beautiful and sexy and maintain their elegance. And they are fairly comfortable (the jeweled one). I bought two pair while in Florida and with the help of the Foot Petals Strappy Strips I wore them all day long.

I am totally crazy about these satin rose sandals -- they are so cute. The rose embelishment gives a dramatic Flamenco feel to these shoes. They will look fabulous with mini dresses, skirts or skinny pants.

However I am investigating the price difference between Zappos and Net a porter and I will surely keep you posted.

Lately I have been totally infatuated with Yves Saint Laurent shoes. I love them (almost all of them). To me, the shoe collection is elegantly sexy and yet trampy enough to add a naughty look to any outfit. Even the most classic dress will look fabulous paired with a pair of these shoes.

For spring I love these slides. Paired with a simple black dress they will look fabulous in the evening -- or they will perfectly compliment any slouchy pants or a mini T-Shirt dress.

As we know by now bright colors are in. I found these absolutely adorable "Rosette"pumps. The Rosette has been France's emblem since the 1789 revolution.

I wonder if these shoes have been ispired by Marc Jacobs's Parisian life? Anyway these shoes are beautiful, they are girly yet elegant. The vivid red leather adds a very joyful touch to these must have pumps. Bravo Marc, a very nice change of pace.

I fell in love with these a few months back in the black color, but when I found them in gold, I thought, "screw the black, I'm rocking these!" Are they not insane? There is something so sexy and primal about them. They remind me of a lot of the shoes we saw this season on the runway including Balenciaga. I wore mine the other night with black opaque stockings, a black mini dress, and a black leather jacket. Yes, I like black. And there's nothing like a little gold to liven things up when your a dark little thing like me :-)

Vivienne Westwood Red Label 'Mock Croc' Shoes

By TheShoeGoddess on 12/07/07 3:00 PM | In Coup de Coeur • Vivienne Westwood | Comments (0)

I am so glad to see that the biggest trendsetter and fashion icon of all time is back on the fashion scene. I adore these fabulous mock croc black patent leather shoes; they are so Vivienne. They have that decadent look to them that is so specific to Vivienne Westwood.

These shoes could belong to one of Louis the XIV's "courtisane's" and just as easily to a Kings Road punk star without looking out of place. That's what I always liked about Vivienne Westwood, her styles are so elegant and crazy at the same time that they could manage to go from century to century without a hitch.

As I previously say I am not into purses as much as I am into shoes, but It happen that sometime I come across an unforgivable bag and I become obsess .

This Alexander McQueen skull clutch is one of them and according to some of my fashion editor friend this is a hot item for fall, however this clutch have two major downside to it, its size too small and its weight very heavy due to the skull clasp, and I will add the price tag is also very high, but Christmas is at the corner, so maybe you can include it to your Santa wish list....

Last night I had dinner at Mr. Chow's in Beverly hills with my friend, Carine Roitfeld, the fashion editor of the French vogue. It is always a pleasure to spend time with her, because she is not only extremely talented and stylish, but she is also a wonderful person, mother and wife.

Anyway, every time I see her I look forward to see what she's wearing.  Tonight it was a Christian Dior dress and coat and a pair of Yves Saint Laurent felt wedges.

And as magnificent as ever, Carine Roitfeld.

She confessed to me that Prada was a favorite shoe collection for fall. She loves John Galliano and Jean Paul Gaultier because they are just so nice, kind  and so extremely talented.

I have learned that John Galliano wears costumes to hide his shyness, but he's low key and a very down to earth person. I could already sense that and that's why I love John so much.

Carine Roitfeld as fabulous as usual.

We knew this fall was going to be all about bright color and patent leather, whooooa I have to say these shoes are bright.....

But amidst a lot of badly done bright shoes, these blue cobalt patent shoe boots remain elegant and chic, they will actually lighten up any dark grey or black outfit, I like them as well over dark brown.

But be aware that a very simple and plain outfit is needed if you plan on wearing these shoes otherwise we can go from super trendy to super clown-like ...

Totally chic and so Yves Saint Laurent, these platform knee boots are a reminisence of Paris in the 70's (altough no one wears such high heeled shoes in Paris). Frye Liv hidden platform pump

By TheShoeGoddess on 10/15/07 11:00 AM | In Coup de Coeur | Comments (0)

The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. The Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well to do shoemaker from England. John A. Frye ran the business for nearly 50 years. After his death in 1911, his family continued to run the company until 1945.

Frye products have a long and illustrious history; Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish- American war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey.

Today Frye is not only a  boot maker. The company has broadened their collection to include pumps, mary-janes, and ankle boots and sandals. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the quality is very good.

I love this pair of platforms. They have a wild west feel, and could be a fabulous alternative to the Chloe buckle pumps.

French people have a saying that says "what goes away always comes back!" It seems to be such a true statement especially when it comes to fashion. Who would have guessed twenty something years ago that Nina Ricci would make a come back as a trendy brand? The once famous maison de couture was slowly slipping into 'les oubliettes" but thanks to Olivier Theyskens, Nina ricci is back in the front row, and the shoe collection is amazing. These mary-janes look fabulous, I love how the rond toe and the lucite heel come together to give a retro/ modern look.

Nicholas Kirkwood

Who's Nicholas Kirkwood? Well his shoes have racked up more mileage in the past month than most pairs will see in a lifetime. They've been seen in New York, London, Paris, and Milan, and wait this is just the begining for the British newcomer. Nicholas has designed the spring 2008 runways of Belstaff, Tommy Hilfiger, Basso  Brooke, Doo.Ri and 3.1 Phillip Lim, all in his first season. Talk about a genius!!!!.  In some cases he had only two weeks to design, manufacture and ship all over the world. Despite his crazy schedule his designs have the elegant polished look of a shoe industry veteran.
Don't these shoes remind you of Alessandro Dell'aqua and Giambattista Valli's shoes??? I bet they are manufactured in the same Italian factory.
