Bottega Veneta 'Pitone' Wedge

Do you remember the beautiful satin blue wedges from Bottega Veneta I posted a couple of weeks ago?

Well here is the python version -- which look even more spectacular to me. I love their neutral tone which makes these shoes totally timeless. They are chic with a edgy twist to them. However, although the high  quality standard that has been Bottega Veneta's trademark for years might justify the price, these shoes remain extremely expensive.

Since these shoes won't be available until April 2008 we still have a few more months to save up (or to become strong enough to resist and and perhaps forget about them).Broken Heart

I thought that you were against the use of snake skins? i wish that there were more developments into synthetic snakeskins.

Oh well technically yes, but I don't think snakes are as endangered as alligator, ok animal are animals and all should be protected the same way.
But these shoes are so stunning!!!

well actually with snakeskins its the process by which they get that skin which is so terrible and there are many snakes that are endangered. I won't go into how they get snakeskins once they capture the snake as it will make you sick, but i have a feeling that it would put you off these. i don't have a problem with the use of skins, as long as it is humanely farmed personally i could never wear anything more then leather as i feel if i can eat cow then all of the body should be used, including the skin.

Actually these snakes are farm raised, so I don't feel so guilty about it.

yeah but they still have to use a very inhumane method to kill them and get there skins and lets face it if you did buy these could you honestly wear them and not feel guilty everytime? I mean obviously snakes aren't lets just say the most cuddly of creatures but they are still creatures and I personally couldn't condone these shoe's. Im not even into animal rights groups and everything but endangered creatures (ie exotic goods) farmed or not are off my shopping list.

I am kind of weird sometimes, I am a vegetarian and a pet lover (I have a cat and a dog), and I will never ever wear any kind of fur. But for some reason I don't think too much when it comes to snakeskins, but you are right I should think twice, however you are going to see so much snakeskin shoes this spring!!!

I know unfortunetly the trade in exotics has rocketed thanks to celebrity endorsements etc. however as consumers we can say no after all buying luxury goods is supposed to make you feel a bit happier not guilty. plus even if fashion says something there are plenty of examples where consumers have not bought it (grey autumn/winter collections has been tipped as a trend for ages and only finally came out as one that everybody used after several seasons, apparently grey is too dull a colour (certainly in london anyway when you not only match what your wearing but you match the weather more often then not (not to mention concrete)).
