I have been getting so many e-mails asking me what I think about these Chanel pistol-heeled shoes since Madonna wore them at the Filth and Wisdom premiere last week.
Some people were very offended and believe Madonna could have used better judgment before wearing shoes, which symbolize violence. The challenge of becoming a renowned fashion designer like Karl Lagerfeld is not easy, but to stay at the top is even more difficult! You always have to come up with crazy and edgy things in order to make a statement, so people will keep talking about you and your collection. Sometimes it can be weird, and sometimes it can even be tasteless.
When Laurence Decade created these killer heels for Chanel after Karl Lagerfeld saw a similar gun in Miami Vice, she probably didn't mean any harm and certainly didn't mean to offend anyone or promote violence.
Although I have been working with youth at risk and serious gang members in South Central LA for years, I don't feel these shoes are represent violence anymore than any TV show, movie or music video readily available to the general public. I rather like to think that the message these shoes conveys is that women are killers, and men should be aware of it.
These shoes won't be available in stores, but they will available for pre-order mid-November. There is already a huge waiting list. They will come in black for $2,200.

I fail to see the controversy in this.
So what do they think? Folks are going to see the shoe and then go out and murder someone?
I wish we would stop blaming objects (even something as simple as a fashion shoe) and start blaming culprits! Like those nuts who commit crimes in real life.
Bottom line, the shoe is fabulous and because of certain opinions (probably haters who dont even care for fashion) that shouldnt stop them from indulging what they think is cute.

I agree with you, I doubt people will go out on a murder spree after seeing these shoes, and I also agree that people need to stop blaming everyone else for their own failures, These shoes are certainely very sexy and believe it or not if I am lucky enough to get my hand on a pair I will wear them...

I don't really see what the big controversy is either, and this is coming from me, who absolutely hates guns. Personally I don't like these shoes, but I can admire them for their edginess.
