Last week, we reported that Christian Louboutin was going to be at Barney's Beverly Hills for a special appereance on May 6. Needless to say, Hilary and I were there since the wee hours of the morning, and although we had arranged it all through our PR firm, we didn't want to miss Monsieur Louboutin!
(See the interview and photos after the jump)
So, we decided to have lunch first and then go down to the main floor where the event was taking place.
Florence, The Shoe Goddess

Of course, we were so excited that neither of us could swallow a thing. As we walked to the main floor, the line of women waiting to get a glimpse of the master and have their shoes signed was already forming, and the excitement was mounting!
Monsieur Louboutin arrived at 2 p.m. What struck me about him was his kindness and simplicity and the softness of his voice.

Bien sur, we spoke French. We had a lovely chat about his begining at Rue de Grenelle in Paris (his store was a block away from my parents' home in the heart of Saint Germain des Pres). I have to admit that his French accent brought back fond memories of Paris. When I mentioned his cute green converse shoes, he explained that he usually wears "des souliers de cuir," which means leather shoes.

I didn't want to distract him too much, since there were so many people waiting for him, but I have to say that Monsieur Louboutin is not only one of the most talented shoe designers of this century, but he's also a wonderful person. And it is always a pleasure to meet him and to talk to him because no matter who you are, he makes you feel important and comfortable, and for us women that is a priceless feeling.
Alors, merci Monsieur Louboutin pour votre talent et votre gentillesse! (Thank you Monsieur Louboutin for you talent and your kindness!)
