So... unfortunately I had to return these :-( They are beautiful and I really fell in love with them... But for $800 at 23 years old, I want something timeless and I don't think these are (I'm on this new responsible kick, Florence will tell you!!) For those of you who have room in your budget for some eclectic, fun shoes, these are perfect. Being responsible's a bitch...
Marni Peep Toe Platforms $741.00- Net-a-Porter

Tell me about it Hilary, I'm on a GAP year at the moment and trying to save up to travel to New York and everyweek i have to try and tie my hands behind my back to stop me buying something, the problem is (and I have a feeling you are too) I am a total clothes horse, every single bloody day i have to wear a new outfit (not necessarily totally new but the look has to be different daily) and I tell you it's killing me. I have my eye's on a pair of matte silver (wait for me on this) trainers which admitidly aren't expensive in terms of designer prices but for a poor student who loves his clothes it adds up and these are for me. now i keep on arguing that i'll find better stuff in new york or that i should just buy them to wear off the plane so i can really hit the ground running sort of speaking when i arrive. now again i'm in a similar predicament as these aren't timeless either but just as those marni heels are these are pretty damn cool. maybe we should form a pact not to buy or something. I mean the problem with anything like this is that how many outfits are we going to be able to wear our respective shoe's with before we get bored or see another pair?
here's my advice... when you are on a limited budget, but a very fashion forward individual, you cannot just splurge on trendy "of the moment" pieces (this goes for clothing as well.) You have to think, "am I going to wear this two yrs from now?" and if the answer is no, and the item is pricey, then drop it. On that same note, if the item is trendy and cute and not too hard on your piggy bank, then it's ok to purchase a trendy piece once in a while. When it comes to $800 marni's that are funky but not timeless, I had to put my foot down.
