In the course of a year, here at TheShoeGoddess.net we have seen a lot of shoes; beautiful shoes, extravagant shoes, ugly shoes, tired/boring shoes and so on. We have also come across a lot of designers we liked, others we didn't like so much and those special designers we really believe will make it big.

One of them is Mink. Rebecca Brough, the creative mind and owner of the brand was a card carrying vegan long before the term was even coined. A former model and fashion stylist, she balked at the use of leather or fur because of a genuine concern for animal rights and the environment. Out of that concern, she conceived the ultimate alternative, MINK Shoes: a vegan shoe line that sidesteps leather for eco- friendly materials and outpaces its predecessors by leaps and bounds in both style and function.

Our word to Rebecca, please keep up the good work, we love your shoes!

A few months ago, I wrote about the creative and unique mind behind Mink.

What I like about these shoes, is not only their ravishing styles but also the fact there are vegan.Rebecca Brough's,(the creator and designer of Mink) lifelong interest in the preservation and safeguarding of the environment is the inspiration behind Mink, Rebecca is also a convicted vegetarian, and a fabulous and caring human being.

Although her brand is new and she is working very hard to make it happen, she was the first to jump on board when I asked her to donate some of her shoes to raise money for my charity in South Central. I have a lot of respect and admiration for Rebbecca, because not only she is incredibly talented but also her and her team is just the coolest girls in the industry. This feeling reflects into Rebecca’s designs, her shoes have the cutest animal name, and for spring 2008 she has added some fabulous flip-flop.

I love these flip flop the delicate flowers on the side are very chic and will nicely compliment any foot. The good thing about these flip-flop is the heel : it's designed to provide a good arch support.

Aren't these wedges fabulous? I love the double ankle strap and the upper bow is a clear reminder of the 1920's era. It's always a sexy "je ne sais quoi"behind any of Rebbecca's designs.

I want to tell you about a wonderful event that I attended yesterday. The A.P.C.H. “Girlz in the Hood Women of Achievement” luncheon. However, I was extremely upset when I got word that Paris Hilton was released from jail because of medical condition! I usually don't give too much into the celeb gossip world. But, this time I have to say that I am as very shocked about the unfairness of her treatment. Being involved with young people throughout South Central Los Angeles, I can’t help but think what kind of message this action is sending to young kids. Is justice not the same for all? If you are famous and have money you can easily buy your way out of trouble? To me, this action is saying you don't need to be a responsible individual toward society because society will forgive you. If you are Paris Hilton society will reward you for even for being a piece of trash. We must ask ourselves, is this what we want our youth to look up at? Is this the new role model society has set up for them?

I place blame on the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for being such cowards and releasing Paris Hilton for fear of a lawsuit. But also shame on us for empowering people like Paris Hilton and letting her believe that she is above the law. I also believe the system is blind and corrupted. Where is the justice for all the South Central children and many other young victims of urban violence who are gunned down every day on their way to school just because they are born on the wrong side of the freeway? Where do we stand as a society to protect them? My heart goes out to all the young people who every day are pulled over, thrown on the ground and handcuffed on a first offense. The constitution tells us that all humans are equal. I feel that today, unless proved otherwise, this statement is untrue.

APCH is a wonderful place that provides at-risk youths from the inner city of L.A. with a secure and positive family environment Here, they can regain hope, belief and learn life skills that will help lead them to a positive future.

The “Girlz in the Hood” luncheon was to benefit the ACPH girlz project, a ten week program that inspires inner-city girls to strengthen their minds and spirits and teach them skills that will empower them. This program is designed to break the vicious cycle of abuse, violence and gang activity.

Mink, sounds like an ironic name for a shoe line. Recently, I have discovered some amazing shoes. Rebecca Brough, the founder and designer of Mink shoes, has maintained a lifelong interest in the preservation, protection and safeguarding of the environment. It is this conviction that is the inspiration behind Mink. When I first met Rebecca, I realized that she's not only fabulously talented, but she is also a visionary. This is what I liked about her. When she came to me a few years ago with a crazy pair of super high platform denim sandals, I thought they were a little funky! Well, Rebecca not only has the ability to project her creative mind but create beyond the trends.

Rebecca has revolutionized the shoe industry by creating the first fashionable non- leather shoe line. Rebecca's shoes are trendy and beautiful. They also have cute animal’s names. There is a pair of fabulous platinum pumps called Monkey......How cute is that??

My absolute favorite is the fantastic "Hen" sandals in brown chocolate satin. I love the edgy brass studs and the chain that drips from the delicate ankle strap. It is so chic and sexy.

What about these super cute black canvas and cork platform sandals? I particularly love the intricate black and silver cris- cross upper. The double ankle strap is so sexy and the detail of the heel is so cute. They also have a very funky name, Vulture.

Whether you wear them with a pair of jeans or a dressier outfit, these sparkling pumps will definitely look good at night. The heel and the sole are red and they are lined with a festive rose pattern. They are to die for.

Bull Pumps

I also fell in love with these beautiful sandals made of metallic fabric and a mirrored heel. They are a reminiscent reminder of the forties with a cut out and an ankle chain detail that falls graciously around the front of the ankle.
