Eye rolling and nostril flaring come naturally when I hear the words 'Paris Hilton' muttered. So when I heard Antebi Footwear and Paris Hilton were launching her eponymous shoe line I had to do some digging.
"I have always loved shoes, and after working on my recently launched sportswear and fragrance lines, this seemed like a natural next step," the heiress said.
Paris is like Donald Trump; they both pimp their names out to every conceivable product. Shoes seem befitting, but thinking about young girls seeking to buy these shoes to be "just like her" kinda bothers me. Take a look at these two numbers:
Paris Hilton Pink Satin Platforms

Paris Hilton Red Wedge Mules

I suppose the red mule could be cute (although not my taste- the angle on the wedge is too low) and the pink satin ballet style platforms have that wrapped sole (which normally I love) and a lot of potential, but these seem home-sewn. I can smell el-cheapo from a mile away. Plan to keep my eyes peeled for future models and discuss with you! What do you guys think?
Welcome to the shoegoddess Galit. What a great post to begin with, we all love having a dig at Ms Hilton and co. And yes I can smell the cheap materials and glued satin across the Atlantic. I'm not even sure girls want to by Paris Hiltons stuff anyway?
Wish you were right, but if you look at sales numbers between her extremely successful perfume line and her jewelry collection (sold exclusively through amazon.com), she's got quite the following. Even with being written right out of Conrad's will, she'll be covered financially for a good long while.
I've met Paris. She was sweet as sugar so I won't be too judgemental, but those pink satin shoes will def have that "All Man Made Materials" sticker on the soles. She going for the right market though, no one who spends real coin on shoes would fathom buying her line. Then again, who knows? Maybe she'll surprise us?
The thing I find annoying about her is that she gets away with so much and that has become the way young girls think is acceptable to behave. Im sure she is a sweet person but as a public figure you have to show some sort of maturity which i don't believe she shows at all. I don't have a thing against party girls like Paris but I do when 13 year old girls start thinking its ok to act like her. I also have a little theory that secretly her dad is buying up all her stock to keep her happy.
I couldn't agree more with you, as a mother of teen-ager girls I am disgusted by the low moral standards these girls bring to their audience, and it's very unfortunate that this is the kind of person our kids have as role model.

YUP! Exactly my point. 13 year olds? What about he 8 year olds? They worship Paris and Britney, so sad. I'm not keen on young girls seeking to buy her products... and now shoes? Give us a break already.
So far, I read that Nordstroms, Zappos and Macys will carry her line.
Galit, I agree with you on all counts. These do not look very high-quality at all. I wonder if the heiress, herself, would wear these. (Except in planned photo-opps.) The problem with Paris Hilton selling shoes is that no self-respecting woman is going to buy/wear them. So her market is for the young girls and teenyboppers who still see her as a real life Barbie. And they shouldn't have to wear such adult shoes, or make their parents buy them something that will fall apart. /end rant.
Jessica you are absolutely right, I hope no one will buy her shoes, but you know how certain people are, celebrities means everything and can never be wrong.
So sad....

Mark your calendars! I just found out that Paris will be launching her shoe line on Feb. 8 at Macy's South Coast Plaza store.. And it seems she is also riding the 'green' wagon by having recycled material for her shoeboxes. I think I will plan on going to see her shoe line and get our photo taken together.. Awwwwww.. lol
I know this is awful to say - but it would be hilarious if Paris takes two steps in her heels and one snaps. I'm glad she's doing the recycled material for shoeboxes, but I hardly doubt that was her idea. But who knows, maybe it was? Paul, you'll have to tell everyone how she looks at the Macy's launch!
