Repetto is synonymous with dance and these pumps are the perfect example of that. I've danced my whole life, and these particular shoes are a modern, sassy take on the character shoe. I absolutely adore their retro feel (very '40's swing) with the modern addition of a slight platform. In other words, these are not your mothers character shoes. I would do these with a full flirty skirt or dress to bring back that swing style or some black skinny jeans to make it a more modern/casual look. And as they are neutral as neutral gets, you can literally pair them with any color.

Couple of month ago I wrote a long article on Repetto shoes, as every little French girl I grew up with the brand, from its creation by Rose Repetto in 1947 . Repetto has been part of the French fashion landscape when Brigitte Bardot order the ballet flats for er role in the movie "et dieu crea la femme" then in 1970 Serge gainsbourg became Repetto godfather after seing a pair of shoes Rose had created for Zizi Jeanmaire Rose's daughter in law and famous cabaret artist., But the real renaissance has happened over the last few years, to the point that the brand has become one of the fashionista's favorites when it come to Ballet flat.

The Repetto shoes now, are coming stateside via a pop-up shop at the gallery space in New York's An Earnest Cut & Sew. "This project really came out of mutual respect," said Scott Morrison, president and designer of Earnest Sewn. "Repetto was attracted to our store concept, and we believe in celebrating iconic brands that stay true to their historical roots." The store-within-a-store will stock more than 70 styles--the largest range of Repettos available in the US--including limited-run organic canvas flats. Today, I am heading up to the redesigned Repetto store located at 22 Rue de la Paix, just across the Paris opera Garnier.
I didn't know that it was sale season in Paris!!! OMG, what a nightmare! You have to line up outside the store.
Well at least it give me a chance to admire the beautiful " tutus" displayed inthe window.
This Tutu is antique and must be one of the first created by Repetto.
The ballet shoes are classified by size and style and displayed along the wall in compartments.
Talking with a sales person at Repetto, I learned that they will be selling the shoes on-line in about a year Repetto. However, I will keep on checking regularly because it might happen sooner.
This week I came accross these fabulous leather richelieu, I love them. They are so chic and trendy, I adore the platform. Can you guess the brand? Repetto, absolutely! Is the old "maison de la danse" becoming more fashionable by the day?

For the last several seasons, we have seen the ballet flat come back. They are everywhere and every designer has at least a pair of ballet flats in his collection. As much as we love high heels, we always come back to ballet flat because nothing is more comfortable when we need to walk.
The ancestor of the ballet flats, "le chausson de pointe," was born in 1947 in Paris, France in a small atelier nearby the Paris national Opera. Rose Repetto created the first Pointe shoe. It was hand stitched for her son, Roland Petit, who lately became the most renowned French choreographer.

In 1956, the ballet flat was born at Brigitte Bardot's request. Being a Ballerina herself, she was looking for a pair of shoes as comfortable as her pair of ballet shoes. Repetto rose to the challenge using it's know ledge in the matter to create their first shoe line inspired from the ballet shoes, named Cinderella.Repetto
The ballet flat made its first public appearance in the smash hit movie "Et Dieu Creea La Femme."
