Aren't these shoes totally insane? I am not sure if I like them or not. They kind of remind me of the ceremonial uniform worn by the French Republican Guards.

These one-of-a-kind sandals are crocodile layered with gold leaf and adorned with black curled feathers and with jet Swarovski crystals.

Normally I don't go for shoes with sooo much going on, but these are a work of art.  The shape of the sandal, the colors and textures; everything executed in perfect form.  The snake skin mixed with the pop colors really works here.  I have to say Bravo to Roger Vivier.  I would definitely do these with a simple black dress or skinny jeans because anything more would detract from the beauty and uniqueness of the shoe.

 Talk about creativity... Roger Vivier has looked within (literally) for the inspiration behind these shoes using the spine as his subject.  They are lovely and I would absolutely love to see them on the red carpet, on the right gams of course... or even in a Fantasy film like "The Golden Compass" with Nicole Kidman donning them gracefully. IMdb How delicate, how pretty, tres jolie.

Ummm, I don't know what to say. I love Roger Vivier.  He's been around for a while, always brought us new and inspiring styles, but this... I'm not so sure about. I don't know where to begin.  What do you even try and pair with this technicolor monstrosity?? I'd say a black dress, but you may ruin the outfit. Oy.

Spectacular And Extravagant: Although Roger Vivier died in 1998, he remains one of the most renowned and celebrated shoe designers of all time. His designs are inspired, beautiful and feminine, like something out of a fairy tale. 

Roger Vivier created shoes for the most famous designers, among them Dior, Courrege and Delman. Today Diego della Valle the shoe mogul behind Tod's and Hogan acquired the name Roger Vivier in 2002 and opened a store in Paris in 2004. Bruno Frisoni is the new designer and always says that Roger Vivier has always been his favorite shoe designer.

To make a long story short, Roger Vivier was born in Paris in 1913. He is regarded as "The Faberge of Footwear" and has redesigned our vision of shoes. Over the summer when I traveled to Paris I went to the Roger Vivier store rue du Faubourg Saint Honore  and I was allowed to visit a beautiful room where some of the original prototypes designed by Roger Vivier himself where carefully protected behind glass windows.

Today shoe designer Bruno Frisoni has taken over  Roger Vivier's design room and inspired by the master's old designs, creates fabulous collections.

I love these red patent leather sandals.They are sleek yet trendy and they have the Roger Vivier trademark banana heel.

In the late 1970's "le Palace" was the Parisian version of Studio 54, one of the most controversial club of it's time where the world's most famous people were rubbing elbows with flamboyant drag queens and other party animals.

We know how difficult it could be to find the perfect pair of evening shoes, sure, we would like to have a different pair for every outfit, but truth is sometime the investment is not worth it. Beside the timeless black satin pump, we surely need something neutral but just a little bit edgier maybe, to wear with summery outfit.

Here are my favorites (for now....)

Roger Vivier timeless silver leather pumps $575.00. Actually these pumps will look hot with black opaque tights and any black skirt or dress, they will look also fantastic with any white outfit , they can be dressy or casual depending on you wear them. I think these shoes are worse the money because they are a classic.

Christian Louboutin sequin peep toe platform $995.00 Neiman marcus. Altough these pumps are absolutely beautiful, I fear that they won't be as of a good investment as the Roger Vivier , however they can be worn casually with jeans .
