I’m still obsessed with purple—I can’t help it. It’s just such a great color! So, of course, I fell in love with these Stuart Weitzman slingbacks. This is a really fun shoe. You can wear them with a more serious outfit, but I’d have fun with them and wear them with tights and a skirt or leggings. Jeans are an option as well, of course.

And because of the shape, you can wear them through next spring and summer. With this scary economy, shoes that you can wear more than one season, are a good thing! And Stuart Weitzman’s shoes are very reasonable for designer shoes, so that’s a plus too! They are also available in a variety of other colors.

Now that we have discussed the importance of a basic black pump and a ballet flat, it’s time to discuss another important facet of building a shoe wardrobe: the evening shoe. I really think it's a good idea to have at least one or two timeless evening shoe options. First of all, if you have an event come up, it's nice to already own a shoe that works with most everything, so you can just focus on buying a dress. In addition, a beautiful evening shoe can transform a plain little black dress into a much dressier outfit. So if you're in a jam with a last-minute event, you can toss on that LBD and gorgeous pair of satin sandals, and you're all set.

In my mind, nothing can ruin a beautiful evening look, like putting on a pair of inappropriate shoes with an evening gown. And when I say inappropriate, I’m thinking of pairing something like a delicate chiffon gown with a a pair of office-appropriate black pumps or a chunky platform sandal. Perfectly wearable in other scenarios, but they just do not work with a gown.

Another issue with evening sandals is comfort. I have ended so many evenings with aching, blistered feet. Granted any 5-inch shoe is going to be somewhat uncomfortable if you’re standing in them all night, but make sure any shoes you pick are somewhat tolerable. For example, if you mainly wear flats, don’t pick evening shoes with 4- to 5-inch heels. A heel of 2 or 3 inches is just fine.

It is impossible to pick a shoe that is going to work with any evening dress you might one day wear, but stick to something as neutral as possible like black, silver or gold. I adore evening shoes in vibrant reds or turquoise, but if you’re just building your shoe wardrobe and want to maximize your shoe investment, go for something neutral that you can get maximum wear out of. Later on you can add in some more unique choices. It is also nice to have a sandal and pump to choose from.

Here are some of my favorite choices availabe online now. I’ve also included some flats for those times when you’re say pregnant or have a sprained ankle (been there, done that).

Now that the influx of all the fall shoes is slightly dwindling, I’m having to work harder to find shoes I love that we haven’t already written about! But there’s nothing like a pink sandal to make me excited again!

First of all, I love the color of these Stuart Weitzman sandals. It is just a gorgeous shade of pink. It makes me happy! And then I really like the ankle wrap and bow. Bows can either really offend me, or I love them. This is a nice bow, and I think it will look great on the back of a pretty ankle and leg. If your legs and ankles aren’t your best feature, I’d probably pass on these sandals because the bow will draw the eye to that area.

These sandals are a no-brainer for a pretty LBD or evening dress. But I think they would also rock with a pencil skirt and white blouse. So chic!

Desirable:  Stuart Weitzman Sandal

I thought I had seen everything,  or at least almost everything when it comes to shoes, but I had never seen or heard of a pair of sandals selling for $ 2 million. According to the fabulous website The Luxist these shoes were displayed at Las Vegas during the Le Vian party. The silver leather heels feature over 185 carats of tanzanite and 28 carats of diamonds. The front strap features a slim strap of diamonds, but the heavy gemstones are designed to curve around the ankle with a 16-carat pear-shaped tanzanite drop surrounded by diamonds that dangles down over the top of the foot.

Affordable: Calvin Klein Sadee Ankle Boots

I came accross these very cute ankle boots, and love them. The brown suede looks very elegant. I love the heel. These boots are very chic and timeless, and they also will be a good alternative to the expensive ankle boots we've seen for fall.

Repulsive: Marc by Marc Jacobs Bump Toe Buckle Boots

I don't know if it's just me, but I find these shoes hideous! The buckles and the straps are just too busy.

From seeing all the fall lines, purple is going to be huge! (Hilary will be so happy!!) Which is great because purple is fun, and it’s an easy way to incorporate color into your wardrobe. Although you can find purple in a more subtle fashion, these shoes are just young and fun! I love the purple suede, and the thick platform and heel should be comfortable! I can definitely see these shoes for a night of dancing!

I would wear them with some retro-looking flared jeans or a mini with bare legs or opaque tights once it gets cold. And for a “fun” shoe, the price is great!

These are pretty darn cute. They may seem a little over the top, with the huge bow and all, but for Spring bows are popping up all over.  I say run with it; they are young fresh and flirty and there is nothing wrong with that.  I would definitely do these with black or a subdued floral, because you are walking arounf with huge bows on your feet! You trying to stop traffic?!?! (note: they also come in black.)
