With NY Fashion Week in full swing, Monday night was jam packed with luxe parties. Options abound, I chose to attend the Joie party, which was held at the prestigious and trendy Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel. Private party that it was, regulars were turned down left and right by the uber strict velvet rope doormen.
One sly patron pleaded with the gatekeeper, complaining that her "hair was curly" and needed to get in STAT before the rain got to her fresh blow out. It worked! About thirty others were not so lucky. You get the picture. Once inside, I knew immediately this soirée was a force to be reckoned with.
Let me start by saying this: the women in New York are among the most beautiful in the world. Coupling that fact with the shoe selection, it's safe to say the Parisian belles have some tough competition. Bisous bebe!
As for the shoes? Naturally, you had your standard stock of Christian Louboutin's traipsing around the joint (not that I'm complaining), but what was to follow brought sunshine into an evening that was sopping wet.

See, girls in New York will wear any kind of shoe, any night of the year, any season of the year, any temperature of the year, come hell or high water. Nothing stops us! Luckily, I had my camera to capture images of some of my favorites. Two designers stood out from the masses.
First and foremost, Bruno Frisoni shoes made a major appearance at this party. Wow, do I love every pair I spotted. Such a delight and severe departure from the typical red-bottomed shoes we've been seeing on every celeb you can name. Second, YSL. I'm loving the lines and the metallic inlay at the sole. They're chunky and fun, yet not loud, and strangely dainty. Lastly, super "IT girl" model Anouke was there holding court with her adorable floral micro-mini vintage dress and outstanding Alaia gladiator boots. Anouke told me she often gets told by top designers that those boots are a masterpiece. I agree wholeheartedly!
Eye rolling and nostril flaring come naturally when I hear the words 'Paris Hilton' muttered. So when I heard Antebi Footwear and Paris Hilton were launching her eponymous shoe line I had to do some digging.
"I have always loved shoes, and after working on my recently launched sportswear and fragrance lines, this seemed like a natural next step," the heiress said.
Paris is like Donald Trump; they both pimp their names out to every conceivable product. Shoes seem befitting, but thinking about young girls seeking to buy these shoes to be "just like her" kinda bothers me. Take a look at these two numbers:
Paris Hilton Pink Satin Platforms

Paris Hilton Red Wedge Mules

I suppose the red mule could be cute (although not my taste- the angle on the wedge is too low) and the pink satin ballet style platforms have that wrapped sole (which normally I love) and a lot of potential, but these seem home-sewn. I can smell el-cheapo from a mile away. Plan to keep my eyes peeled for future models and discuss with you! What do you guys think?
