ugh, these make me sad. i happen to own those alexander mcqueens' and having steve madden make a shoe that appears to be exactly the same kind of sucks. i mean, i understand copying trends (and i'm all about a deal) but copying stitch for stitch is a no no in my book.
Yes, I agree. I've seen them in person and I still thought they were fab. Don't they have a little Carrie Bradshaw in them? (perhaps the oversize flowers Patricia Field put on every dress Carrie wore that season.)
here's my advice... when you are on a limited budget, but a very fashion forward individual, you cannot just splurge on trendy "of the moment" pieces (this goes for clothing as well.) You have to think, "am I going to wear this two yrs from now?" and if the answer is no, and the item is pricey, then drop it. On that same note, if the item is trendy and cute and not too hard on your piggy bank, then it's ok to purchase a trendy piece once in a while. When it comes to $800 marni's that are funky but not timeless, I had to put my foot down.
Thank you istyle788, but this isn't Florence! It's Hilary, her right hand goddess. I'd like to formally introduce myself and let you know how much we appreciate all your comments. These shoes are divine!
Exactly. You hit the nail on the head. Shoes are for feet and they carry us through our soirees and parties and dinners and events. There is nothing like a busted shoe to ruin an evening so why risk it? It is a trend I'm noticing more and more and I suppose that's why Christian put these shoes in his "fashion" collection as opposed to his "classic" collection (if by "fashion" he meant unwearable and by "classic" he meant actual footwear.)
I couldn't agree more... It's sad to see a label you know and love turn into the most knocked-off/ imitated, low class brand around. I too have stopped looking, there is nothing intriguing, new or genuine about the designs anymore. sad!
